OVERVIEW

1 - How did you come to the leather industry?

In 1990, I decided to exploit my entrepreneurial abilities by starting my own business. I started with wholesale trade, selling chromium salts to Romanian tanneries. Their lack of cash forced me to barter with them. The finished leather I got was sold to footwear companies. After accumulating some funds, I decided to buy shares in a state-owned tannery. I took over all its debts, and after years of endeavours, I now own it and this activity has become my life, 24 hours a day, for 365 days a year.

2 – What job are you performing in the leather industry?

I am the tannery owner. As such, I am completely involved in supplying raw and auxiliary materials, remuneration, production and sales, but also in the problems of my employees, who have become my second family.

3 - What qualification or training did you do to be there?

I am a mechanical engineer who, through contact with the professional business environment, learned the 'abc' of leather processing.

4 - What do you (most) appreciate in your job?

The success and satisfaction that my team has a job in a country that is going through a long and difficult transition in the context of a galloping globalization.
